Long-time resident Charlene Dafnis passed away on November 12th after a brief bout with cancer. Charlene was born in Santa Rosa, California on June 20th, 1951. She moved to the Southern California area where she attended Long Beach Community College. She met her future husband, Dennis, through his brother-in-law and they were married in 1980. She took on the role of Mom to 14-year-old Dennis Jr. who even accompanied them on their honeymoon to Hawaii.
Charlene was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis fifteen-years-ago, but never let it stop her from serving the community. She was an active member of the Crestline Lioness Club, serving as its President three times, and was chosen Lioness of Year in 2006. Charlene was honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship, which is the highest honor that Lions International can bestow.
Charlene is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dennis, her step-son, Dennis Jr., and three grandchildren. She requested that no services be held. Donations can be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
