After a three-year battle with cancer, Leanne Dwyer, age 72, went to the be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Leanne Bowling was born in La Verne, California on September 13, 1946. The youngest of two children, she graduated from Bonita High School in 1964, marrying her high school sweetheart, Arlan Dwyer, in 1966. The couple lived in several San Gabriel Valley cities over the years, finally settling into their dream home in Deer Lodge Park in 2009. Remodeling while maintaining the character of their 1928 Lake Arrowhead house was a labor of love. Leanne (aka Annie) was caring, creative, generous, outgoing, funny, and kind. Over the years, she worked primarily as a homemaker. She also loved sharing her passion for quilting and sewing, often voluntarily teaching women to master her craft. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Leanne’s memory to the African Children’s Orphanage https://www.africanorphanoutreach.org/. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Woods at 1410 Calgary Drive in Lake Arrowhead on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow. To honor Leanne’s zest for life, the dress code for the event is “bright and blingy.” Leanne is survived by her husband, two children, two grandchildren, her brother, and countless extended family and friends who will miss her more than words can express.
