Encompassing all of his passions in one place—that was the goal for Louis Boehle, owner of Encompass in Crestline’s Top Town. Everything from crystals, minerals and rocks, soaps, candles, men gifts and antiques can be found inside the shop. Boehle has achieved his goal, and is happy to own a shop in Top Town.

“I wanted to encompass all aspects of things I love,” Boehle said. “I have a passion for antiques and geology.”

Boehle is a California Certified Naturalist, and worked as a park ranger for interpretive education for some time before he decided to chase after his passion and open a business.

His love for nature, or “natural art” as he calls it, is displayed and shown off at the shop. A lot of the rocks, minerals and crystals that shoppers can purchase at the store have actually been found by Boehle’s business partner, Steve Knox. Knox is a geologist whose passion lies in mineral and rock finds. Knox mines the minerals and rocks from all over and, after some time, is able to bring them up to the store to be sold. Knox has work published in collectors books and magazines, and has work displayed in museums as well. His work adds an interesting twist to Encompass.

Passion and hard work are seen in every corner of the store from the way it is carefully set up to the way customers are greeted when they walk in the door. In every direction the shopper looks, there is something that will catch their eye.

Boehle sells homemade soaps by The Markham Farm, which are soaps made out of all natural ingredients including coconut oil, olive oil and essential oils. Shoppers can also find a variety of candles by Joshua Tree Candle Company, which are all hand-poured and made from soy wax.

Boehle emphasizes that his shop is the perfect store for finding gifts for men. “There aren’t many stores up here that offer unique gifts for men,” Boehle said. “That is why I wanted to incorporate this in the store.”

Boehle carries the line Mancanics in his store, which is an all-natural men’s grooming product. Mancanics makes everything from beard oil, beard balm, beard and mustache wax, hair products, shaving products and more. Getting these items in a gift-set makes for the perfect male gift. Mancanics is only one of the many gift ideas for men people can get at Encompass. Boehle also carries wooden bow ties, which give off a rustier-edgy side to the regular bow tie worn with a nice tuxedo.

Encompass truly is a shop that has everything to make for a unique shopping experience. “I am lucky to do what my passion is, and be a part of my community,” Boehle said. “We are working to bring the charm back to the mountain.”

Encompass is located at 23445 Crest Forest Dr. in Crestline. Open Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. To see more of Encompass visit them on Instagram at Instagram.com/encompassantiques.
