Food Donations Needed

Mountain Food Pantry, A community led Drive-Thru, is created to provide necessary food supplies to our mountain families who find themselves in need of support at this time.

This is a temporary community and volunteer led service, which will be available during the COVID-19 National Emergency. It was developed out of our desire to help our neighbors; recognizing that many of us will face significant financial hardships as a result of the current California “Stay At Home” order.

The Mountain Food Pantry will be accepting and distributing donations out of the Blue Jay Room (27236 Highway 189, Blue Jay) which is attached to Alpine Escrow and has been graciously offered for our use by Steve Keefe - Coldwell Banker. Donation drop off is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Distribution will be Friday’s from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This is a drive thru site; please drive around the back of the building for drop off and pick up. A volunteer will come to your car to pick up or deliver donations. Donation distribution will be first come first serve and based on the donations received.

Please be aware that food pantries are exempt from the current “Stay At Home” order. Volunteers, donors, and recipients of our goods are allowed to travel to and from the food pantry. In order to minimize possible exposure to COVID-19 we ask that donors and recipients not enter the building. All of our volunteers must be free of any symptoms of COVID-19 and wear masks and gloves while volunteering.

We are in need of the following donations: canned goods, soup, pasta, sauce, beans, rice and individually wrapped snacks. Cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment are also needed and will be used on-site for our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions please email mountainfoodpantry@gmail.com

Again, this is a community volunteer and local donation-based program; there is not a larger food bank providing our goods. All goods will be from our neighbors, to our neighbors. We understand that this is a very challenging and unstable time. Many people, who have been consistently employed, are being told they can’t work resulting in fears for how we will provide for our families. We hope to do our part to help alleviate some of those fears. We believe that we are better together and that we need to support each other now more than ever.
