Over 120 guests attended the UCLA Mountain Bruins Halloween Dinner on Oct. 27 held at the UCLA Conference Center. Some of the costumed guests included King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, Pharaoh and Mummy, Al Capone, Little Red Riding Hood, Princess of Aspen, Ninja, Police Officer, Indian Princess, Cow Girl, Joker, Sheriff, and a group of cackling Witches.

Chef Brian and Francisco at the UCLA Conference Center prepared a delicious four-course meal consisting of cream of asparagus, followed by a salad top with blue cheese and spiced pecans. The choices for main entree included beef, fish or vegetarian. The dessert was a special home-made Fall cupcake infused with the spirit of Fall harvest.

“This dinner is amazing,” exclaimed Liza Cohen, as she tasted her vegetarian dinner. “I want to host an event here.”

“Wow, this beef is so tender,” said another guest in full costume, who remained anonymous throughout the evening.

The dining hall at the UCLA Conference Center is rustic and yet charming.

The quality of food is considered one of the best in California and the dining room service is rated first-class.

Only through Mountain Bruins’ Locals Night events and exclusive memberships that the dining opportunity is made available for the locals and their guests - as a fundfaising event toward the Mountain Bruins Scholarship Fund.

After dinner, Nancy Lavelle made the announcement for the costume contests where each winner from each category would receive a gift certificate “Dinner for Two” at the UCLA Conference Center.

The Most Creative costumes awarded to Gary Brennan and Abby Evie as Chef & Ingredients; and The Scariest Costumes awarded to Rick Rohn and David Glass as Pharaoh and Mummy.

“The net proceeds from tonight’s dinner benefits Mountain Bruins Scholarship fund,” said Geneal Kerr.

“We consider this a sold-out event,” added Sandra Koos, who also co-chaired the dinner event with Nancy Lavelle and Geneal Kerr.
