Bark Beetle Arson-In-Progress Thwarted by Crestline Residents

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, a fire began in the vegetation behind the McDonald’s in Crestline. Among the hillside shrubbery stands at least four dead pine tree victims of the bark beetle plague. Unknown residents of Crestline responded quickly to the blaze, working together to extinguish the flames using rakes and a garden hose before the fire could spread beyond a ten-foot diameter.

‘Airsoft Escobar’ Arrested

On Saturday, Oct 12, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) initiated a traffic stop on a gray Ford pickup truck, in the 28900 block of Hook Creek Road, in the community of Cedar Glen, for running a stop sign with a burned-out license plate light and a damaged windshield.

String of Break-ins on Cedarwood Drive

Early in the morning of Sept. 29, several vehicles were broken into as they sat in front of residences along Cedarwood Drive, in Running Springs. Four separate police reports were filed on the string of car burglaries. Each report made claims that miscellaneous items had been stolen from vehicles parked along the shady, tree-lined residential street including wallets, gift cards, purses, credit cards and a new-in-box microwave. The tools from one resident’s work truck were also reported stolen.

Crestline Man Steals Guitars From Chapel

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:54 a.m. Deputy Olivas from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to the 300 block of Thousand Pines Road in Crestline in reference a burglary investigation. An unknown subject entered a chapel at the Thousand Pines Christian Camp and stole two Gibson guitars valued at over $3,000. Serial numbers for both guitars were obtained and entered into the stolen property system.

Man Beats Girlfriend, Drives Away Drunk and Heavily Armed

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 5:54 a.m. deputies assigned to the Twin Peaks Station responded to Mountains Community Hospital located in Lake Arrowhead. The victim stated she had been assaulted by her boyfriend of two years, John Neibert, 43 Year old resident of Lake Arrowhead.

Crestline Drug House Flushed Out

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, at approximately 9 a.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) served a search warrant in the 500 block of Acacia Drive in Crestline. During the service of the search warrant, deputies recovered a substantial amount of crystal methamphetamine, black tar heroin, a large amount of drug paraphernalia and a stun gun. Seven suspects were contacted at the residence who were identified and arrested for a variety of narcotic related offenses. These offenses included the illegal possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a drug house.

Twin Peaks Man Victimized Two Girls

On Sept. 16, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Twin Peaks Station concluded an investigation related to a report of sexual assault against a female victim under the age of 16. The suspect was identified as Ramirez-Andrade, Gonzalo. While investigating the incident, a second juvenile female victim reported being inappropriately touched by the suspect.

Armed, Dangerous Suspect Remains at Large

Detectives are searching for an armed and dangerous suspect who is wanted for a murder in Hesperia and a strong arm robbery in Apple Valley. The whereabouts of Phillip Williamson, 37 years old of Hesperia, are unknown. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.

Crestline Man Arrested for July 11 Murder

Following an extensive investigation, homicide detectives arrested Alex Janis Opmanis, a 27-year-old resident of Crestline, for the July 11 murder of Sammy Lee Davis, 29, also a Crestline resident.
