A 21-year-old Twin Peaks man is in custody and facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant and vandalism on Jan. 3.

David Coons, a resident of the 700 block of Rose Lane, pleaded not guilty to all three counts at his in-custody arraignment on Jan. 5. He had been in a dating relationship with his ex-girlfriend, who alleges that he broke the window of her vehicle with a large flashlight. Glass from the window cut the victim’s face, and Coons reportedly used the flashlight to strike the victim in the face, causing bruising, redness and a bloody lip.

Deputies called to the corner of State Highway 189 and Rose Lane drove the victim to her residence, and transported Coons to the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

The court set a pre-preliminary hearing for Jan. 13, and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jan. 18, both at 8:30 a.m. in Department S4 of the San Bernardino Justice Center.
