An incident in Crestline on Aug. 9 proves that things are not always as they appear to be, and that witnesses present at the same time might provide entirely different accounts.

Such was the case when the San Bernardino Fire Department sent paramedics around 6:17 p.m. to the 24000 block of Bowl Road in response to an account of a female having a seizure. A report from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reflects witness statements to firefighters that the female subject was pushed out of a vehicle that had come to a “rolling stop.” The occupants of the vehicle allegedly threw her purse at her and took off, witnesses said.

Other witnesses said the female was walking with a male subject when she collapsed. He tried to help her up, but could not. A passing vehicle stopped, but the driver and the male subject could not help the female into the vehicle or off the ground.

When a neighbor said she was going to call an ambulance, both males left in the vehicle.

An initial report was that she was having a seizure, but later notes stated she was possibly under the influence of alcohol. Another report stated that she was “in a full-blown drug incident, pupils were totally blown out, arms stiff; there was bruising.”

At St. Bernardine’s Medical Center, the female went into distress three times, and a report reflects that it was “unknown if she is going to make it.” No updated reports were available at press time, except to say that the female was still at the hospital.

The report from the sheriff’s department stated that there was “no evidence of a crime at this time.”
