In the pre-season home game on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Rim of the World High School volleyball team hammered Arroyo Valley High School, winning the match in three sets.

At the start of the first set, the Rim girls came out a little slowly but took the lead. If the girls looked a little sluggish, it is because they played in another tournament in Las Vegas the previous weekend. It takes a lot out of you to travel and play in several matches a day while keeping your grades up and getting all your classwork done.

In the second set, Sophia Williams had a great “roof” against the Hawks. A roof is where the opposing team spikes the ball, but a defensive player blocks it and sends it back to the opposing team’s floor for a goal.

During the second and third sets, in another series of great plays, Taryn Pilkerton served the ball. Her serves were made with such pinpoint accuracy that the Arroyo Valley Hawks were not able to return the ball and the Lady Scots took commanding leads in each set. The final scores for each set was 25-11, 25-17 and 25-9 with Rim in the lead of each set.

Come early on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to get a good seat as the first home league game is against Jurupa Hills. The match will start at 4:30 p.m. and the girls are looking forward to your support!
