The Rim of the World High School football team hosted the Eisenhower High School Eagles on Friday, Oct. 18, in a game where Eisenhower was playing Bowling for Dollars! The Eagles’ offense put on a multi-pronged attack, ranging from running the ball down the middle, to running wide for the short screen pass and hurling the long ball – they had all the options.

The Eisenhower defensive line looked like the Jacksonville Jaguars, outweighing the Fighting Scots, not merely by pounds, but more like an average person going up against William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Reggie White, Joe Greene, Deacon Jones, Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor. The odds were next to impossible and effectively shut down any chances Rim had to move the ball downfield.

For those of you who must know, the scores were (first quarter) Eagles, 14, Rim, 0; (second quarter) Eagles, 41, Rim, 0; (third quarter) Eagles, 48, Rim, 0; and (fourth quarter) Eagles, 62, Rim, 7, finishing the game. CJ King scored the only touchdown for the Scots and the extra point by Jorge Salvatierra, putting 7 points on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.

Rim football travels to Rialto High School on Friday, Oct. 25. The game starts at 7 p.m. Rim has a record of one win and two losses in league play. The Fighting Scots needs support and we all know that fans filling the stands, shouting encouragement, being positive and cheering the team on goes a long way toward putting points on the scoreboard!

Speaking of support, the final home game will be on Friday, Nov. 1 against Arroyo Valley, which currently has a 0-3 record. The seniors, with their parents, will be recognized for their hard work and dedication throughout this season. Again, support the seniors and the team as they play their final league game against Arroyo Valley. Game time is 7 p.m. and you will want to be there early for the senior’s recognition program!
