The Rim of the World High School boys’ varsity soccer team got off to a strong start when Rim beat Big Bear 3 to 2 in a scrimmage on its home field. The Rim team dominated the hard-fought game, although the score went back and forth, until Rim finally clinched the win to become the Soccer King of the Mountain. Rim goals were scored by Rafa Gonzales, Isaac Lopez and Guillermo Jimenez, while goalie Estaban Hernandez, aided by defenders Braden Walker, Luke Scorziell and Ivan Romero, put forth a strong defense.

League play began on Jan. 11, with the Scots facing Rialto at home. It’s been a tough season as Rim has faced one California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) powerhouse after another in the San Andreas League: Arroyo Valley, San Gorgonio, Jurupa Hills, Rialto. Fun was had by all, though, when Rim faced the CIF Southern Regional Boys State Soccer Champions for the 2016-2017 season, Indian Springs, on a snowy home field.

Under Coach Eddie Patrone, the team is developing a great synergy. Varsity members include: Alex Vedoy, Noe Gonzalez, Joseph Parcells, Guillermo Jimenez, Carlos Reyes, Isaac Lopez, Eric Weissbrich, Braden Walker, Noe Dominguez, Luke Scorziell, Eleazar Andrade, Estaban Hernandez, Oscar Gurrola, Desi Tiscareno, Ivan Romero, Rafa Gonzales, Ricardo Vargas, Alfredo Serrato and Colin Brooks.
