Flying Scots Track and Field Team CIF Results

On April 28, the Rim of the World High School track and field team traveled to the San Antonio League Finals and did exceptionally well. Here is a rundown on some individual events and team competition:

* Taylor DeBenedictis was league champ of the 300 and 110-meter hurdles.

* Katie Mashburn was league champ of the 300-meter hurdles and took the CIF-qualifying second place for the 100-meter hurdles.

* Courtney D’Avigon was the 200-meter race champ.

* Alejandra Garza was the high jump league champ.

* Joseph Potz was the league champ in the 3,200-meter race.

* The girls 4x1 relay league champs were Alejandra Arce, Hannah, Johnson, Courtney D’Avigon and Chiarra Smith.

* The girls 4x4 relay race league champs were India Regan, Katie Mashburn, Chiarra Smith and Alejandra Arce.

* Ricardo Vargas took the CIF-qualifying second place for the 1,600 and 3,200-meter races.

* Cooper Ellsworth took the CIF-qualifying second place for the 400-meter race.

* Davin Whitaker took the CIF-qualifying second place for the 110-meter hurdles.

 

On Saturday, May 4, was CIF division four preliminaries. The track and field event was at Carpinteria High School near Santa Barbara. The results of this competition are as follows:

* Taylor DeBenedictis qualified for CIF finals in the 300-meter hurdles.

* Ricardo Vargas set a personal record in the 3,200-meter race with a time of 10 minutes, 14 seconds.

* The girls 4x4 relay race also set a personal record with a time of 4 minutes, 20 seconds.

 

Overall the team did a great job. Next week is finals at Cerritos College.
