Last Thursday, Jan. 30, a strong, cold wind howled out of the north, whipping across Townsend Field. That was only the weather warm-up for the Lady Scots Soccer team as they hosted Eisenhower High School.

As the game got underway, the Lady Scots immediately put the pressure on the Eisenhower goalie. After several shots on goal, Dayana Gonzalez drove the ball in as Rim scored within the first five minutes of the game.

Just a few minutes later, Bria Schierhold broke away with another shot on goal, giving the Lady Scots’ their second goal of the game. The first half ended with a score of Rim of the World, 2, Eisenhower, 0.

As the sun lowered behind the hills and the temperature dropped, The Lady Scots were just getting started as the second half of play began. Natalie Wilihite received a cross from the left side, kicking the ball into the net, giving Rim a 3-0 lead.

After this goal, the Eisenhower Eagles’ momentum changed, putting the Lady Scots on defense. But a pass and breakaway from Chloe Brandon, playing midfield, struck gold, her kick all net as she scored another goal, bring the score to Rim, 4 and Eisenhower 0.

With about 10 minutes left in the game, the Eisenhower Eagles scored their first goal, bringing the score Rim, 4 and Eisenhower, 1. All was not over as Courtney D’Avignon drove the ball down the right side, dribbled the ball towards goal, and took a shot, scoring a goal for the Lady Scots. The final score at games’ end was Lady Scots, 5, and Eisenhower, 1. This was an all-team effort; congratulations to Rim of the World Girls Soccer!

The final game of the season will be on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. It will also be the final game for the seniors. Come out and congratulate the seniors and the team, as they will be playing Arroyo Valley.
