The baseball bats were hot as Rim of the World High School baseball players took on Arroyo Valley High School last Thursday, March 5. After traveling for the last couple of games, Rim baseball returned home to a beautiful spring afternoon to beat Arroyo Valley 13 to 3.

The Fighting Scots started out with Kyler Llewellyn coming out strong on the mound. Unfortunately, Arroyo Valley scored first with one run. But the bats were just warming up for Rim and, at the end of the first inning, the score was tied 1 to 1.

At the top of the second inning, Arroyo came out with more confidence, finishing the inning with two more runs – but that was only the beginning of the end. A fantastic play by Deagan Risnes, who dove dramatically for home plate, might have been the spark that heated up the Scots’ bats. Rim came back with three more runs, finishing out the second inning with a score of 4 to 3.

During the top of the third inning, Kyler held Arroyo off with no runs and, at the bottom of the third inning, the Fighting Scots’ bats were again on fire, and finished out the inning with a commanding lead of 9 to 3. The final score was Rim – 13, Arroyo Valley – 3. Rim baseball currently stands at 1 and 2 in the San Andreas League.

Come out and support the Rim baseball team at their next home game on April 17 against Rialto High School, beginning at 3:15 p.m.
