After the field dried out from last week’s snowstorm, the Fighting Scots baseball team hosted the Arroyo Valley Hawks on Thursday, March 6. Although the weather was pleasant, sharp, cold winds blew from the north, putting a real chill on the fans in the stands.

The first half of the first inning the Hawks quickly scored two runs, putting the Scots in an early defensive position. That all changed at the bottom of the second inning when Will Daniels cracked a hit, earning a stand-up double, bringing in two runs to tie the game at two-all.

At the top of the third inning, with the Hawks at bat, the field sprinklers suddenly came on, completely stopping play for about ten minutes. After the waterworks were shut off,  play resumed and both teams quickly settled down. It was the pitching from both teams that battled out the remaining innings. Toward the end of the game, Arroyo Valley scored two more runs finishing the game with a score Fighting Scots 2, Arroyo Valley Hawks, 4.

The Fighting Scots will be hosting Eisenhower on Monday, March 23. As spring weather is starting to warm up our mountaintop, it is a great time to come out and support the Rim of the World baseball team at their next home game.
