The sun shone and a slight breeze skimmed across the field as the Fighting Scots took the field for their first home game of the season. As the game began, Christian Spurbeck, #5, took the mound for Rim against a strong Jurupa Hills team.

During the first inning Christian Spurbeck was able to hold Jurupa Hills to just one run, ending the top of the first inning. Jurupa came out with their strongest pitcher and was able to keep Rim at bay.

As the game continued Jurupa’s bats were connecting with the ball, and with a combination of hits and runs they were able to score more points on the board.

The best play of the game was when Jurupa had a runner on first and third base. With the pitch to home plate, Will Daniels, RIM’s catcher, came out of the box to make the play. The Jurupa runner on third base ran toward home plate, realized he went too far, and reversed back to third base. Catcher Will Daniels chased him down, threw to the third baseman, Jefferson Piatt, 22  who tagged the confused runner out.

The game ended with Rim having two hits and two errors; the final score was Rim 0, Jurupa Hills 8.

Rim’s next home baseball game is on April 2 at 3 p.m. against Rialto.
