Rim of the World High School’s boys tennis team hosted San Jacinto High School for a CIF competition and pulled out a big victory on Wednesday, May 1.

When the rackets came to rest, the score was Rim, 12 and San Jacinto, 6. In doubles competition, Bobby Hughbank and Joseph Joffrim won all three of their matches. In singles play, Harrison Ridland won all three of his matches while Braden Walker won two of his three matches. With tennis being a team sport where every game counts for a combined score, the Fighting Scots did a great job.

The team’s victory moved the Rim students on to the next round of CIF play where they hosted Azusa High School and won with a final score of Rim, 10, Azusa, 8.

“Scott Barany is the hero of the [singles] match because he won when we really needed it on Friday!” Coach Perkins said.

Congratulations to the Fighting Scots for their victories against San Jacinto and Azusa. On Monday, May 6, the tennis team travels to Sultana High School for the quarterfinals match starting at 3 p.m. Good luck team!
