The Lady Scots played a hard-fought game against Arroyo Valley High School on Feb. 1, and came out with a win. The Scots and Arroyo Valley were well-balanced, with both teams taking shots on goal, ending the first half in a 0 to 0 tie.

Whatever Coach Wallace said to the girls at halftime showed in the players as their intensity burst forth as the second half began.

Dayana Gonzalez, midfielder, took control of the ball, passing it to Courtney D’Avignon, forward; seconds later she drove the ball down the touch-line, even with the 18-yard line, and crossed the ball to Chloe Castillo, forward. Chloe then attempted to punch the ball to score.

Unfortunately, the Arroyo Valley defense was able to block Chloe time and time again for the cross. It all came together with about 15 minutes left in the game, as Courtney finally beat out the defense and crossed the ball high, like an artillery shell, landing it in the top left corner for a goal, beating Arroyo 1 to 0.

The Lady Scots played their final game of the season against San Gorgonio on Feb. 6.
