The fighting Scots boys’ soccer team played Rialto at home on Jan. 30 and, although they played hard, it was no match against a dominant Knights’ team.

The pressure was on the Rim defense from the very beginning, with Rialto scoring about 15 minutes into the game; by halftime the score was 0 to 3. It was as if the defense was fighting against a tsunami wave, as the Knights just kept coming and coming. Even as the Scots would clear the ball away from the goal, another wave would hit their defense.

The second half of the game began just like the first half, with Rialto immediately scoring again. There were some great plays by the Fighting Scots. Examples include Luke Scorziell, who played great defense; Rafael Gonzalez and Noe Gonzalez made their best effort, sandwiching a Rialto player to block him, but were unsuccessful in stopping him. It wasn’t until about 40 minutes into the second half that Isaac Lopez was able to punch the ball in for a goal, ending the match 1 to 6.

Come out to the final game of the season at Townsend Memorial Field against Jurupa Hills today, Feb. 8, starting at 3:15 p.m.
