The Lady Scots Volleyball team season record is now 20-12 and they have extended their league record to 9-0, advancing to CIF competition and winning the league championship!

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Rim of the World High School volleyball team hosted the San Gorgonio High School Spartans in their last home game of the season. The girls volleyball team came out with another win in all three sets, with the scores 25-7, 25-6 and 25-16.

The making of a great piece of art or the crafting of a beautiful diamond takes time, skill and patience; everything must come together towards that perfection. Rim’s Lady Scots have been honed and tested over the past several months. They have suffered pain and sacrificed a part of their lives to excel as a team on their journey toward the league championship.

Danielle McCasland is a senior and this was her last home game representing Lady Scots Volleyball.

“It felt awesome. We came out strong and it was a fun game!” McCasland said.

“We are hoping to go strong. Every day, in practice, we give it everything we have and hopefully will go all the way,” McCasland added about going to CIF.

Coach Patterson had some praise for the girls’ game.

“The seniors came out and they were focused. They celebrated their careers by coming out and playing good volleyball. We are definitely going to CIF and [are] seeded tenth right now,” Patterson said.

Patterson said the focus in the team’s preparation for CIF would be “defense, always defense.”

As the senior girls played their last home game not only of the season but their high school careers, Marinna Almaraz, Taryn Pilkerton, Danielle McCasland, Maddie Gabera and Brook Bates were honored at the game’s conclusion for their hard work in academics and athletics and their passion for volleyball. Congratulations girls and good luck as you enter CIF competition!

The last league game is on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Jurupa Hills, starting at 4:30 p.m. Come out and support the Lady Scots as they finish the season and move on to CIF competition!
