Saturday, Dec. 7 marked the fifty-forth year of the Beresford Wrestling Tournament held at Rim of the World High School. The rain did not dampen the spirits of this year’s competition, made up of 21 schools from as far away as Oxnard, Elsinore and Bishop.

Spectators in the packed gym were able to watch six matches simultaneously, but it still took over six hours of screaming fans, sweat covered wrestlers and cheering families to get to the finals.

Congratulations to the Rim wrestling team placers:

First place: Brock Chapman, senior, 145 pounds

Third place: Noah Sosa, junior, 152 pounds

Fifth place: Nate Maier, sophomore, heavyweight

Fifth place: Eli Weiss, senior, 113 pounds

Fifth place: Clayton Musgrave, 152 pounds

Seventh place: Josh Negron, senior, 145 pounds

Congratulations to Pete Ferrara and his team of coaches for running such a well-organized event and congratulations to the Fighting Scots wrestling team for their success, hard work and dedication.
