Rim of the World High School hosted their first home soccer non-conference game against the Big Bear Bears on the cold evening of Nov. 22. The field had just been cleared of a few inches of snow and the temperature had dropped to a “mild” 34 degrees. Despite that, it was a perfect time to play soccer.

As the game began, Big Bear scored their first goal during the first minute of play, catching the Scots off guard. After that shocker, the Fighting Scots team got into the game and put the Bears’ defense on notice, scoring two goals in the first half of play. The Bears came back and scored a tying goal to end the first half, 2-2.

Both teams played evenly during the second half, taking plenty of shots on the goals, giving the goalkeepers plenty of action and staying warm in the cold temperature. When the clock ran out of time, the final score was Big Bear, 3 and Rim of the World, 3. David Vargas, Ricardo Vargas and Byron Debroy each scored a goal for the Fighting Scots Soccer team.

With the Thanksgiving snowstorm dumping almost two feet of snow on the soccer field, it will be necessary to have games rescheduled. We’ll print the new schedules once they’re printed.
