An early Sunday morning fire destroyed a Lake Arrowhead home along the 2700 block of Matterhorn Drive, causing more than $300,000 in damage.

According to County Fire Battalion Chief Kelly Anderson, around 4:15 a.m. firefighters received a call of a house on fire with reports of flames spreading into nearby vegetation.

First units arriving on scene reported heavy smoke and that fire was visible to the rear of the four-story home’s exterior with vegetation involved.

A total of 16 county firefighters fought the blaze, with support from Cal Fire to help with the vegetation fire.

Fire was contained to the home, although nearby houses were potentially at risk of the fire spreading. There was significant damage to the exterior of the home and fire and smoke damage to the interior.

Firefighters fought the blaze for about an hour. There were no injuries and no one was at home at the time. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
